Thoughts on the concept of emotional cheating?

(If you don’t know what that is google says it’s where you share emotional intimacy with someone who isn’t your partner)

I think I’m just too polyam to understand why that would be a problem lmao

I'm probably not the one to talk cause I am aro, but it feels weird to only rely on one person for your emotional needs. I guess if they were keeping it from their partner. I don't know, when you have a problem or are going through some stuff it seems natural to rely on friends and family not just your partner.
I think it's if your partner has fallen in a romantic love with someone else and doesn't discuss it with you sorta thing, which ofc they can't control but I feel like romantic relationships should have a level of transparency, y'know?
I think I'm too aromantic to understand it akdjfkf like?? People can share their feelings with whoever they want?? There are multiple ways to be intimate and I don't understand why it should be something you do only with your partner ._.
I've never heard that definition before. I've always heard emotional cheating is only nonphysical. As in, not just being flirtatious or having emotional convos with someone but like sexting and discussing the idea of cheating behind their partners back.
Sure there's nothing wrong if your partner is fine with it, but then again, it wouldn't be cheating if your partner is okay with it lol
Personally I would only count it as cheating if you're monogamous. The point of monogamy is that you're in love with one person. While we can't control how we feel, we do owe it to our significant others to be honest about that.

If you just fell in love with someone else but still love your current partner than you can discuss polyamory, but if you're not in love with your current partner anymore the best thing to do would just be to break up. Lying to them and dating someone behind their back is at best unfair and at worst just downright heartless.
I don't get that either, like do ppl not have best friends anymore? Or are not allowed to have fantasies?
I actually think focusing all sorts of intimacy only on your (current) partner is the best way to get your expectations up too high and crash the whole thing.
I feel like I would be kinda hurt if my hypothetical partner was sharing their thoughts and feelings with someone else instead of me, even if I was polyam I would still be upset if they were keeping things from me. Sorry if that doesn’t make any sense.
