New year art (first time using Krita).Happy Lunar New Year!
Sorry for the late post, due to some unfortunated circumstances, i switched to Krita, it's so slow i can't even draw a straight line but i still want to draw something for the occasion and Krita is the only program i know.
Anyway, this year is the year of the Cat, but in some countries it's Rabbit so i decided to included both, they both are adorable after all Jan 24, 2023
Hey, if you're still struggling with Krita, it helps to reduce the dpi/ppi when making a new canvas. This is if you're planning not to print your work. That way the file size will be smaller. 150dpi is okay enjoy for digital. 300 dpi and above is for printing.
Also reduce the stabilization of your pen. You might get less straight lines but I've noticed it reduces the lag for me.
Using less layers especially with effects is also something to keep in mind.
Hope these are helpful. The way you draw faces and your overall aesthetic are really cute and have a friendly vibe.
As for things you can improve, to start is there is not any sense of perspective in your drawings (not just this one). This can be seen in the backpack, as by the manner the body is tilted there should be some perspective to the backpack. Also there isnt any shading / lighting done, which make the form of your characters quite hard to figure out properly. The thumb on the character's right hand should be facing towards the body, not away from it. There isnt much sense for more critique at this stage because shading and perspective are the two break points you need to achieve before more things can open up for you (like material rendering, lighting, focal points, choosing the right perspective view, etc etc). So my advice is to practice and learn these 2 fundamentals, as they are your bottlenecks at this stage of your development. After which, you can then discover your style. Seek me out if you need help :)
Gonna start with what I really like: Your lines are quite clean despite the difficulty of the software. Your main focus stands out well from the background, and the elements of the background (from a special brush, i assume) are used well without taking attention away from the main character. That's something that gets harder as you progress along, so good that you already can do this at this point. All the characters look ok without much obvious anatomical flaw (taking into consideration the style of course, and there are some flaws i will point out later) and both the cat and rabbit looks pretty good to me.
