but everyone I've asked has either
suggested I switch to oils (hey so I will kill you) or
suggested one of the shitiest brands on the market, cause it's "sold everywhere so it must be good"

Have you checked resale sites? I know in the US eBay is a great place to find stuff that’s no longer in production, might cost you a pretty penny though :/
