What's your preference? When you are sketching characters or poses does the sketch have the clothes on or do you draw the character nude first and then cry when you have to cover up your beautiful anatomy work. Also do you start with face or do the whole pose with the circles and guides and stuff.Apr 18, 2021

I only do the body and then cry because that tiny waist was perfect and now it has to be hidden... except for hoodies, I sketch those because I get lost in so much material.
I do the circles and shapes to get the pose and only then proceed with first the head shape and them everything else

•naked body first, then head, then clothes, then hair. if i don't do it like that, proportions get all fucky.
•
•I start with circles, draw the body and clothes after. I draw in pen though so I don't miss the anatomy I'm proud of, it's still there!!
•
Yeah, i cry everytime because i love to sink into sketching in details and first i draw pretty nude but than comes the clothes and it breaks my heart ah TuT
•
Depends, if I’m drawing from imagination I’ll draw the basic anatomy and add clothes right after the raw sketch, but if I’m referencing I’ll reference the clothes and pose simultaneously
•
My sketches 1st pass look exactly like the final except with looser lines LOL
and then i edit it around if I need too
Also I usually start with the face! The eyes specifically. Then nose, then mouth. Understanding the expression first is how I go about with drawing things out. If I'm doing a dynamic pose though I often start with the body to figure out how to place the line of action

I draw the circles and guides in blue pencil and then sketch over that bc I could never cover up pretty nude anatomy

•
•I do draw the character without clothing first and then cry about covering it up with clothes T-T
•
I draw the muscles, then the clothes, and all of my characters are like, freaking bodybuilder ripped, so I’m always a little bummed out when I start drawing clothes.
•
•Yeah, I cry when I cover them up XD.
And I start with faces too, although sometimes the pose that I want doesn't match with the face sometimes (perspective wise) that I have to go back to square one and do the whole pose.

•I start with a rectangle as the head, then shoulders, sketching loosely the body and then do clothes.
•
I usually start by the head, and if a fullbody I do the core line (to get the flow of the position) then basic body shapes and proper sketch with clothes
If I'm having trouble with the position of some limbs for example I might do a proper nude sketch before adding clothes tho

•I do the basic anatomical skeleton, then I make it look like a person (add arms where the sticks are). Then I make a clean sketch over all of that that includes clothes :).
•
I do a very rough body sketch for parts clothes cover and then work the clothes over that
