Marvelous bird
This little darling has been on my list for a while now. Such a small bird, such long tail, much shiny feathers, very marvelous!!The Marvelous Spatuletail (Loddigesia mirabilis) is the only member of its genus. It is endemic to Peru and due to habitat loss and limited range it is listed as Endangered on the IUCN Red List. It's tail only has four feathers, the male uses its two long outer tail feathers during its mating display. The feathers grow three to four times the bird's body length and can be moved independently.Aug 12, 2021
