Lord Obsessus (it/its) is the Abyssal god of obsessive thoughts and turmoil, as its name implies. It feeds on the obsessions of others with it’s tendrils, usually via insertion of the tendrils into the ears, eyes, or mouth of it’s current “interest” (in other words, prey). This process is not fatal, but it is usually very distressing and draining. Human thoughts are the tastiest to it, but humans are rare in its home of the Abyss and thus it does not get to indulge on human thoughts very often.
It will often negotiate with its victims, with promises to keep them safe from their worries, to help them with their obsessions, anything to get closer to them. This will usually come at the cost of the afflicted’s time, energy and dignity, depending on the circumstances. It does not feed on the thoughts of its fellow major Gods, out of respect to them, but their demigod offspring, if present, can be susceptible to Obsessus’s influence. This is something that it’s been exiled for in the past, but Mother Rumor is quite forgiving, perhaps too forgiving.

I feel like the more I describe Obsessus and the more I develop it the more horrific it becomes. It is by far my most terrifying character, which is perhaps why I love it so much??
Some hidden lore about Obsessus is that it came about from a prompt by my then-therapist. She asked me to design a character to represent my ocd and the various thoughts it causes me. She called it the “bully” in my mind, which I think is kind of a silly term lmao. Either way, that’s how Obsessus came to be, and now it can torment Lenore and then Lenore can beat it up with pots and pans
