It's more likely that people just didn't see it. You could hate a piece that you've made and there'd still be someone out there who loves it, after all.
Plus, your skills improve the more you practice. If you're not happy with how he turned out, I'm sure your art will get better as you practice ^w^

You should draw what makes you happy!
People not liking it is just an issue with visibility, it's always hard in the beginning when there's just so many other artists out there.
