A user by the name of @/cottoncandy, also known as @/smolcotton before that account got taken down, has stolen and reposted adopts from the user Sarilain on deviantart and has gave them out for free to unknowing individuals, one of them being me.

Almost all of these adopts go all the way back to 2014. Some of these adopts aren't even adopts, and are actually the og artist's own PERSONAL CHARACTERS and customs for other artists.

I would also like to clarify that it is NOT OK TO HARASS COTTON OVER THIS. This is just to inform others of the situation, and shoukd in NO WAY be used as a sort of scapegoat to harass her. Harassment is never ok.
To Cotton, if you're reading this: why did you do this? You've made mistakes in the past with adopts, I know, but you CANNOT take other people's art and put them up for adoption again. These characters already have owners, and can't be readopted again. This is art AND character theft. This is genuinely horrible, please stop doing this.
I hate even having to make this, because I don't like spreading drama or doing ANYTHING negative outside of the stupid tangent about something that mildly annoys me. However, due to this being repeat behavior, I think it's important to warn others of their behavior so less people can be victims of another adopt batch that is made up of stolen designs. I can only hope that they apologize for their behavior and delete the stolen art. Again, I'm truly sorry. But it has to be done.Dec 30, 2021

•People shouldnt be stealing art, cause believe me, soon or later someone will find out.

I truly hate people stealing art because I know that somewhere someone worked extremely hard on that. It pisses me off and reminds me of the first (and only, luckily) time my art got stolen. I felt like all my hard work had been basically stolen from me. It's not the best feeling :(
