Liliana Oleander - 20250717
I did another digital art piece once again—and this time, it’s one of my baby steps in learning the kidlit art style. This artwork features my original character, Liliana Oleander—best friend and sweetheart of my other OC, Arlon Florian. In this piece, I drew her as a child, bursting with life, cheeky charm, and that radiant glow she always has when she’s surrounded by nature. Her long, soft waves of milk-chocolate brown hair fall gracefully down her back, with a sweet white flower tucked near her bangs, just above her bright blue sparkling eyes. She’s wearing her white strapless romper and her matching flip-flops. The floral garden behind her makes her look like she belongs in a fairytale meadow.
The pose I went with here is something I’ve only recently started trying out. It’s called "contrapposto" —a dynamic stance where the body twists slightly to one side, giving a sense of life and movement. I thought it’d be a perfect match for Liliana’s playful, confident nature. One of her hands rests on her waist, and the other hangs loose, as if she’s caught mid-sassy giggle. Her body leans to one leg, giving a lovely little curve to her pose.
Honestly, I feel like this one turned out fine, and I’m happy with the result considering I’m still in the early stages of exploring the kidlit style. I had fun blending the colours softly and making everything feel dreamy and heart-warming, which is something I really want to focus on more in my next works. But as with anything new, there are still things I need to improve. The proportions, the pose balance, maybe a few more expressions in the eyes—but hey, baby steps, right?
For now, I’ll cherish this piece as one of my stepping stones. Liliana’s gentle charm really helped bring this to life, and I’m excited to keep growing and learning from each drawing I make.Jul 17, 2025
