-Small rant ahead-
Last night I decided to make a nice collection of stories on my Instagram profile highlighting all my previous sales from Etsy customers. My stories archives date back to 2018 so I spent a good hour searching for customer photos of my products. A hour later, I received a notification that my activity had been restricted. During this time I was not doing anything interactive with other users; I was just going through my own archive on Instagram and even wandering down memory lane.
I cannot like, post, comment, or really do anything on their platform right now. They said the ban would be lifted this morning, but now it has been elongated to tomorrow.
I have sent two reports asking why and how my actions deserve penalization but I doubt I’ll get a reply.
I know artfol has been created in response to this lack of respect for artists on IG and situations like this/the dreaded shadow ban in favor of accounts that can monetize their platform better.
As a small artist on Instagram I spent years building my meager following of 1k. Despite how hard IG makes it to reach wider audiences, it has been fun to use it and meet new artists.
The good thing is my social media only brings 13% of my sales on Etsy, so in the end I’m not really missing out on much. It just sucks not being able to talk to friends and show them memes

when I went on their Twitter all the comments are about people getting banned or shadow banned for no reasons it’s kinda “scary”. This doesn’t make any sense, I hope you’ll get your account back very soon ><
