As someone fresh from art uni, art teachers always start with landscape and still life, and they honestly really care about it being proportionally correct. Then they move to portraits. And even there, they set themes, and they don't really care about the coloring, the angle, the relations, the personality... They care about it fitting the theme. And if they don't like something you make, they will make it crystal clear
