Gus sat on the windowsill with his two cups of tea. He was waiting for someone, and just as he began to worry the tea would go cold, that someone arrived. “Good morning, Duke,” said Gus as a sleepy-looking owl landed on a branch near the window. “Greetings, Gus,” said Duke, yawning into his wing. “I see you’ve prepared tea.” “Yes, since it’s the first day of fall,” said Gus. “I’d hate for you to get too cold out there.” “Thank you, Gus,” said Duke, accepting the teacup, “but I think that’s the least of my worries.
