Any tips on drawing webcomics?
Panelling, conveying a compelling scene, buildings in scale to characters (I’m not the best at buildings
)
I have a story in mind and have been looking through compositions of other webcomics but it’s still a baffling process.Apr 16, 2021

As someone who struggled to start making their own webcomic, I'd just recommend that you go for it!
Going into my comic, I barely knew anything about formatting, drawing buildings, perspective, or anything like that. Of course I still don't know much, but I know that the more I create it, the better it'll turn out and the better I'll be for it. The whole thing is a learning process. You tend to pick up on things along the way. So don't worry about the little tiny details and just do it!
Though here are some tips I've learned so far:
- Try not to make too many panels per page. It oftens leaves you with less space to develop environments or characters, takes longer to complete, and it could leave a bad impression as it gives an information overload on a single page.
- Use references! I often pick up on how to draw certain things from real life or from other people's comics!
- Speaking of, read as many comics as possible! People tend to be inspired by others or see something that could be good in their own comic.
- If wherever you post has one, talk in the forums! Or comment on other people's comics. It's really fun to learn more about how others have gone about making their comics and characters, and making connections helps others want to see your comic.
- Don't doubt yourself. It's easier said than done, but doubting your style, story, or anything like that just doesn't end well. I did that once and ended up not continuing my comic for a while which sucked. Just stick to doing what feels right for you and do what you love to do.
I would really love to help support your comic if you decide to post it somewhere! And I really hope this helps :)
