Diane has a complicated relationship with her mother, she has a lot of resentment towards her because of stuff that happened when her and Dennis were kids/teens
Diane is often cold and harsh when talking to her, but at the same time cares a lot and can be very protective of her
She often feels like she’s the only one who really understands her mom and sees her fully, which gives her a lot of tenderness for Siobhan
They like to hang out quietly, which Diane doesn’t do with a lot of people, but when she’s with her mom she feels like they don’t need to talk to understand each other
This connection is comforting and at the same time really enraging for Diane, she really doesn’t want to be like her mother but connects with and understand her so easily
Also fun fact : Diane’s orange bracelet belonged to her mother!! She stole it and never gave it back, it’s her favorite accessory

What a touching moment surface level. The mother seems like the type to try her best but was ultimately unprepared and can’t handle hearing her kids perspective. Which leaves a lot not talked about. The leaves are nicely stylized.
