Welcome to Artfight! It’s a lotta fun!
I think some good tips to know are…
• You can currently add tags to your characters so they show up in the tag search! More people can attack you this way!
• If you want to search for a specific username but don’t wanna pay for access to the searchbar, just type in the username in the web address bar!
(EX: artfight.net/~callio)
• Definitely clarify the things you’re not okay with people drawing! Otherwise, you risk the small chance of someone depicting your OC is a disrespectful manner! I heard about someone who had a plushie dragon character & someone drew that character with nipples & wearing a y-sling speedo.
• I personally find it helpful when users describe what the character looks like on the character’s profile! As well as pronouns & personality! Otherwise, I don’t understand the character enough & risk drawing them incorrectly or misgendering them!
• If you wanna search for new users to follow or attack, just find a user you like who’s participated before, & look through the art they made for other users & the art they’ve received! I’ve found so many cool artists from doing this!
• You can bookmark people’s characters to look at later so you don’t need to keep dozens of tabs open!
• You can download the images off of artfight! So if you want to save an attack someone made for you, you don’t have to screenshot it!

More characters is good way to get art but it can be overwhelming... I would choose some very different characters and go with that. :> (new characters tab updates so fast so I don't know if people really check that out...) or... Choose characters that have more than ref. Something going on like story or something. (I'm story shark and always looking for characters that have more than interesting desing!)
Writing about characters is good idea, give them high/age/hobbies and little bit background and then there is better chance to get group art! Or... Generally more interesting art. :')
Draw so much and don't wait to get anything to yourself! There is big chance that some are not that active or just draw for mutuals. And it is totally okay! Revenge art is big thing in artfight but you don't have to draw back to everyone. :> but keep your promises tho! So if you say you are going to attack back then you have to.
And... That's it. Pretty much. Have fun and do only that you are comfortable with!
