Well since you asked- I'm actually working on some drawings of my magical girl universe! In this universe you actually have to have 'magic' in your DNA. This gene is of course D and usually passed down from mother to daughter cause of the x chromosomes. Though there have been a few male magical boys here and there.
You can't take the item away from the girls unless they revoke their position. Though when de transformation you can steal their bows and possibly destroy the tool. Though adding dark magic or trying to corrupt the bows will allow it to be used by enemy.
As for normal people , the only way for a seemingly normal person can handle the power is if they had an ancestor with it and it was dormant. Or in Kathryn's case ,just don't know or have someone to teach them of this power.
My fav design being Dark Berry because she's just so beautiful aaaaah! Her real name is Isabella! She is my only binary trans character ,but It's not known to anyone outside her family and the trio(the main cast of magical girls) She's into gothic lolita/ball dresses, and I designed her magical girl form to sort of hit at that, but it's also represents her as a person. She admires her maids for their hard work, kindness, and dedication. Wanting to be like them personality wise than her cold rich family who eat the poor. Her father is actually very accepting of the change but She has a passive relationship with her mother. Since the mother is more old times, mom thinks not having a son anymore means no name is going to be pass on. Which fuck mom lmao.
Next is Cherry Bomb or her real name Kathryn. I love her out going and explosive personality. She has a short fuse but surprisingly she's very family centered. Even though she grew up in the system. Passed around like some object. Luckily on her 16 birthday she was adopted by a family fostering her and all the younger kids there she treats like family. Caring for them and everything . She actually became a magical girl by accident lmao. She didn't even know she had the power to become one but anyway- she does and at first she's reckless as usual but soon grows to use logic the dumb dumb.
And of course the leader is ironically this on my list but I still love all of them greatly . She's the typical "I've trained for this so I'm better than you and don't need any help" . Typical stuff , normal arc.
And the finally two apart of the world aren't techinally magical . They have grim reapers blood, basically sort of like neutral chaotic magic. A pair of siblings. A demigirl and a boy. It's a long story how they even got to this point but I'll just say they don't really involve themselves with the local monsters unless they have something the duo needs. Their just there until they are able to find and seal the ripping portal up.(again long story that I don't wanna type out lmao)
