Question time number 16What's the worst things you can tell to an artist?
In my opinion there is a lot of things of course, but I really hate the "oh you draw? Could you draw me?" and I'm like "haha no". I don't want to be mean to them but it's just very annoying...oh and of course they want that for free.

“oh this looks a lot like . . .” (comparing an OC to an existing character, yes some OCs can be based off them, but they’re not the same and esp if they weren’t based off that character it kinda hurts to hear that :/)

•I dont get many people talking to me about my art now but when I was beginning my little brother (who would've been like 5 or 6) would come up to me and say "is that supposed to be a person" or things like "that looks really bad" and like he was just a kid and I was really bad at the time so it kinda hurt. I just think it's rude to bring up an artists skill level cause that really doesn't matter, what matters is their vision and creativity

When you're in the middle of the process and people are like "what are you drawing?", "why does that part look so weird?", "hey, you haven't done that part yet". Like, relax people, do you really expect wips to look like a masterpiece?

•I personally find OC comparison very upsetting, considering you spend a long time designing, and then someone just compares it to a popular design or a character you’ve never seen. Ok, it can be good when you want to avoid similarities with well-known ones, but still.

The worst thing that could be said to an artist would probably be nothing... like if they don’t care or simply don’t feel any emotion towards art. Because somehow criticism and complements build an artist as well.

This is kind of related, in the town I’m growing up in, art is revered as some sort of magic talent, and if you in any way acknowledge the fact that’s something you have to learn, it’s somehow seen as less impressive. And I think that’s just dumb.

Maybe not the worst thing you can say but worse thing you can do for me at least is just watching me. I absolutely hate being watched when I’m drawing or doing something similar.
