MoonlightHey yall I'll try to post more here, I do love the art that's going around and everyone seems super nice as a community so I hope I can connect :) and I have enough backlog to post anyways haha
This is the most recent piece I did of my warcraft oc tzumi. I'm not very good with extreme lighting but I tried to push my comfort zone here.. What do you think about the outcome?Apr 12, 2021
Ooh, I like the atmosphere you created in your piece! But I think some details are getting lost. Like I can see this is probably an OC bc of the detail in the design and it’s a pity to see those black weeping eyes not catching your eye (too many eyes for a sentence? Perhaps) I would also recommend other two things: first, try giving it another layer of depth to the shadows. While there is a little part in the direct light it’s so small it almost looks like the colors are flat. Aaaaand, bc I love the concept of the moon illuminating them I would try to detail the moon or specify in some way that the moon is the light source (I.e: by making it shine, giving it some texture...) Keep up the great job!
A lovely piece! Your lineart looks a little insecure, while it looks like you aim for a sketchy style, which I think is really cool, there are parts such as around the shoulder to our left that looks like you have drawn on top of it quite a few times. Otherwise a solid line art! The piece itself is a bit dark and I agree with the other feedback, it would be good to add a dash of blue in the highlight. I also think it would help if you could make the shading help define her form more, maybe have some of the highlight break into the shade of her hair or use more than one color for shading. It would help bring it out more! Keep on the experimentation and maybe try to do huge leaps just to try? Good part about digital art is if your color is not good at all you can always go back to the lineart and start over! :)
Oh and a good advice if you are in doubt about two colord being too close in value is to turn your piece black and white, it makes it clear to you then and you can then go back and change the values in the piece!
She looks so cool!!! Experimenting is always important and you did a good job already but you could push it even more and make sure the light on her hair and face etc. also has the blueish tint of the moon behind her. If the lightsource has color in it needs to be reflected in the lighting and shadows :D
