If anyone genuinely knows about chess can you please feed me more jargon I can translate into lore because I’m having a great time making character design choices based on chess rules, or even better, on stupid puns.

I’m no expert on chess, but I know some of the basics, like, king can only move one square at a time, so that could translate to the person in charge of all the crime is very short sighted, the queen is the best piece on the board cos she can move any direction and however far she wants so that could be really the partner of the king is in charge and the king is just the face of the operation
Umm, bishops can only move diagonally
Rooks (the horse) can only move in L shapes (2 then 3 and vise versa) meaning their the muscle of the chess world and do a lot of heavy lifting in a game
The castles are chill, I always forget about them till I’ve lost my horses
And the pawns, they are useful in their own way, can only move one square at a time and can only take another piece diagonally
(I hop this is what you meant by chess jargon, I’m really sorry if I just explained what the pieces do when you all ready know
but I hope something in there helps
