"Is this our last goodbye?"This piece is so special to me, I'm scared my description won't do it justice.
For context, I have been in a long-distance relationship for almost five years now. It's also important to note that my partner is the sweetest in the world <3
Sometimes, when we're apart, I worry that I'll start to forget him. Even with all the pictures I have of him, I get scared that I'll never be able to draw him again. Because how could I, if I ever forgot any of the little details that make him.. him?
So, I made this, willing myself to remember every little thing a picture can't take. And there I am, placing forget-me-nots in his hair, almost like a prayer.
The pose is a direct study of "Paul and Virginia" by Alessandro Puttinati. I've admired this sculpture for years and never knew that it had a tragic love story behind it. Now that I know, I find it kind of fitting for the themes of this piece.
This is so beautiful! Even without reading the description or knowing about the sculpture, the tenderness in your piece is palpable. I agree, it conveys everything a photo couldn't show. The emotion, the detail that is important to a human eye compared to a camera lense.... this is what art is for. ️
