•I think it is the latter, along with a Deltarune character I've seen in other socials. When a character gets too popular, people then compare it to any other character with any similar traits, maybe because is the only thing they can relate it to.
For example, some people compared once my comic Espero to the Disney film Encanto for the sole reason it's a Hispanic like setting, with also Hispanic characters in a magic hidden city and that was enough to compare both stories even though they are nothing alike.
