First artfol post and first painting in a quite a long bit due to me being an overworked student. Now that schools finally done for a bit, I took a portrait course on Domestika by Karmen Loh. I tried to focus on "comfort" and "freedom" as the theme of the portrait, and wanted to emphasize mood. Asking for critique since I'm not an art student and am lacking in feedback! Please feel free to tell me anything
unless it's very mean

This piece is absolutely lovely! I love the softness of the skin and the bouncy look of the hair. One thing I would say is that you have sort of an omnipresent light source. There's no solid direction for where the light is coming from. The background, on the other hand, shows a really beautiful red-orange evening light from the left and a nice cyan shadow. Incorporating that lighting would be the next step in this painting. You have all the local colors down, now creating that light source would take this to the next level. Just a suggestion, if its possible, I would mirror the background so that the light is coming from the right instead of the left so that the face is being illuminated rather than the back of the head. Some of your shadows also tend to point in that direction as well, like the back of her shoulder and her bandana. This is a really nice painting though. You can really see the 3d form it this rendering, which is one of the hardest parts for me, so good job!
