For those who work full-time, part-time, have an extremely demanding job or are currently not working: How many hours do you usually put aside to work on art everyday? With those amount of hours, how long does it take for you to see improvement? During these hours, do you study art like the fundamentals, are you just experimenting or are you just drawing for the heck of it? Lotsa questions, I apologize. I'm just genuinely curious!Sep 16, 2021

I used to have 8- 9 hour shifts. Working at McDonald’s, I had no time for art tbh, but if I did I’d usually draw for an hour.

•Depends. I try to take a semester long art course. I used to go to classes every Saturday but stopped since Covid. I also tried to do small sketches during my lunch time, but I’ve found it more difficult working from home.
It also depends if I have a commission then I need to set at least 12 hours a side for it.

•I only draw a few days every several months. Used to draw for hours everyday but I stopped. I don't study or practise anything related to art. Just let it naturally come to me or do it as I need it.
When I first started digital art, my improvement was very fast and very drastic. Took only 1 yr for me to attain the art style I currently have and am satisfied with. Bc of that I slowed down and don't care anymore.

•I only ever do art when I feel moved to do it. Whenever I try to schedule practice time I end up getting anxious when I can't get anything on paper and feel like I wasted time I could have spent doing homework or reading or games
•
My improvement is kinda slow, especially because I'm juggling multiple mediums and then ofc not practicing often enough due to procrastination and art block.
•
I mainly make art for the intention of profit or posting online, but I also make art for fun, and in the process I practice some of the fundamentals, but I don't do much studying.

I don't have an art schedule at all. I just do it when I feel like doing it. I struggled with procrastinating and art block a lot. It's not full time or very successful yet but technically art is my job, I have Etsy, Ko-fi, Redbubble, and I'm open for commissions. I'm working on being more consistent with my art making, so that I could post more and list more products and then hopefully gain more traction money wise.

•Art currently IS my job, so most of my day is devoted to working on commissions. Personal art is hard to find time for, and there's maybe only a handful days a month were I actually sit down to draw something for fun.
My improvement was really fast when I first started taking commissions, but as time goes on I've kind of flatlined since I'm drawing a lot of the same poses and angles every day. I used to be able to see improvement every few months or so, and now it's like the only improvement I see takes the entire year to develop.
I've never been the type of artist to study or experiment much, I just draw what I want to draw and have fun with it. I know I'd improve faster if I studied, but winging it has gotten me this far lol

•I don’t set aside any specific amount of time for art, but it averages out to about 6-12 hours per week. I don’t always have energy for art after work so it varies lol
I don’t sketch or practice much anymore, tho I used to when I was in school since it was easy to doodle during/between classes. Now I typically just work through the full pieces I post here and not much else. I’ve been meaning to get back into loose practicing and stuff because that’s when I see the quickest improvement in my own work~
