Do you feel guilty when you raise commission prices? Why or why not? How do you overcome it?

(This question brought to you by someone currently dealing with that reality.)

Nope! Especially when I really analyzed how my art is priced compared to how much time I spend on my art, how much I spend on materials, how much I spend on packaging etc. Putting all that into perspective, I realized that I wasn't actually making much of a profit, if at all, depending on what it was. So I raised my prices for commissions as well as the stuff on my Etsy shop and such. If I didn't care about making an actual profit, then I wouldn't bother doing art for other people aside from gifts. I price based on the minimum wage in my state, plus I take into account materials, packaging, and website fees. It all adds up.
hell no.
To a certain degree yes, but you are continually improving and so do your art. I raise mine when I feel like I'm underpaying my services in relation to the skills I've accomplished for my art. If you also consider the fees charged for online payments, raising them higher is only logic to gain some semblance of revenue. I hope this was helpful.
No, I raise when I feel I leveled up. I put time and effort into my studies to be better and create better quality art (plus making the better quality piece itself) and that has a price tag.
No,i generally raise my commissions every year or so as i improve. I live in society, i got bills n what nots, things break and need to be replace. It's part of living, if I can't afford it, then I can't afford it unless I get paid.
Nope, because I always have a reason for it---if I raise prices, it's either because demand is too high or I'm in need of more money, both of which are valid reasons.

Commissioned art is a luxury, not a necessity. They're paying for not only the time it takes you to create their art, but also the years of practice that helped you develop your skill in the first place. Bumping prices is just a natural part of business.
