Omg once I start working at a video game development company, even entry level positions pay an average of 70k a year
At entry level I'll be able to survive with more than just getting any bills paid and necessities met like I've experienced growing up. For the first time, I'll get to rest easy knowing I'll have Internet, gas and electricity in my home, and no constant worrying about being fed during government shutdowns. And I'll even be able to afford nice things that I bought for myself, without saving for a month just to get something that costs $20 like it was growing up. I won't have to worry about wether or not I'll be able to pay rent like my parents do. If all goes well, I might even be able to support my parents when they need it, or help my great grandmother. I'll be able to afford an indie animated series with a small team, so me and my brothers childhood dream of making our OCs into a animated series can come true.
And best of all, I'll be able to afford gender affirming care, like a binder and T, and even save up for gender affirming surgery.
But my goal isn't just to stay at entry level. I have so many cool game and app ideas, I want to lead a game development team so that I can have the reigns on my own games. Not for the money, I spite the mere concept of a society running on money. I like having money as in modern society basic needs like shelter and food cost money. The amazing pay is a huge bonus because I'll be able to afford to support myself and the people I care about while also affording things I enjoy, but really I just want to not be in poverty. The reason I'm aiming for the highest position is because my dream, how I see my life playing out, is developing my own games.
I'm so fucking excited for college because college makes all of that possible... I'll be able to live, not just barely survive. Develop games I'm passionate about, and afford a good life.Oct 28, 2025
