Art Stuff

The past year or so has been tough. It’s been filled with amazing things as well, but it’s been a big challenge for me, especially regarding my art. I’ve struggled periodically with “art block” in my life which I’ve always contributed to overworking myself. Starting when I stopped frequently posting on social media, though, I hit a complete stop in being creative. I much prefer to focus on positive things in my life (which there is an abundance of) but for some time I have been hammered with physical fatigue, aches and pains, and emotional ups and downs that hindered my work and overall life in general. I started staring at my iPad screen without a hint of inspiration and absolutely no drive to begin anything. I became incredibly discouraged, and worried over not updating social media or being able to complete my projects. Once I became pregnant, while an amazing gift, it got even more difficult to create art and I eventually decided to give myself time and stop forcing it. I had to step away from art altogether. I suffered a lot of anxiety with that choice but I knew it was best for me. I thought I would wake up one day and it would suddenly be easy to draw again... but it never happened.

Well. Turns out, it’s not been such a mystery after all... I have vitamin D and iron deficiency that has been getting worse over the past few years. I started taking supplements (A SIMPLE VITAMIN...), and suddenly, I’m creating again. I hope I never again take for granted the ability to do what I love to do. Art is more to me than a way to make money or a social media account or ‘career’, it’s literally how I communicate and see the world around me. It helps me experience joy in life. God created me to create. I lived life without art for the first time, and I survived, but the day has finally come so that I can draw again and I couldn’t be more thankful

also, apparently vitamins are important, particularly vitamin D
