10th attack on @stadtmouse (on IG) Looks like Lou Ann Kerr's perfume business has successfully taken off and is now being featured on the front magazine of Vogue. Seems like all that scent mixing has paid off somehow; She's become so successful, she might decide to have a whole spa chain around the globe featuring her most popular scented products (if I ever draw this character again I'll definitely try and do some sort of advertisement like that lol)Lou is probably the most interesting character I've done by far. Not so much of drawing her out, but the amount of research I did just to think of a good composition that fits with her likes, preferences, and backstory. I researched vintage perfume bottles due to her love for scents and aromatherapy, 50s magazine covers due to her love for 50s retro fashion, and brainstormed headlines and sub text that relates to her in a way (Ex: The headline mentioning self-esteem issues is in reference to her not being so confident in herself, and fears being useless or a burden). I also thought of a perfume bottle design that fits with her favorite color, food, and overall theme and aesthetic. With one of the references I saw from @stadtmouse with Lou being in a angel costume and finding out that her favorite food is cherries, I decided to call the No. 1 best selling perfume bottle Sweet Angel; A cherry-scented perfume.
Overall, she was really fun to work on. Loved the design, loved learning about her hobbies revolving around scents and her flaws on how she views herself, and just doing her justice with her character in general.Jul 24, 2023
