Mermay Day 1: Deep Sea 
YEA ITS MAYAND ITS MERMAY
I'm actually really late to Mermay I'm still trying to catch up on drawings, but I love participating in Mermay!! It is on my top 3 favorite art challenges for sure, plus it was the reason I have my "realistic" shading style today!
About the artwork, "Deep Sea" was the prompt and I decided to draw a magma kinda mermaid with an angler fish deep under water. I decided to make her based on lava since most uncommon sea creatures are found deep in the ocean, so I suppose this would be a species of mermaids that isn't very common to come across! I had so much fun sketching this, especially the face. I actually sketched it traditionally and then digitally, which I find easier to do for some reason. I love how much the light source pops, I'm glad with the way it turned out!

I like the idea of a lava based mermaid, that is something I never heard of and it's an interesting concept of this species that they are uncommon :0
I also like the idea that these fellas live deep in the sea and it makes sense why they are lava based in the first place
If I remember the deep sea, there are lava below??
I'm not sure but I still like this mermaid design! They are super gorgeous and cute!! 
And that angler fish is so freaking adorable xD <3
Now for the drawing part. You did an amazing job on this! The shade and the lighting on the mermaid point!
The pose is natural and the face expression is so alive! It's made me smile by seeing them happy :D <3
