RANT SUBJECT OF THE DAY:
" Entertainment and Animation Companies with Whitewashing Charatcers"
Okay. So I recently ranted about this on my Instagram but I also feel the need to speak about these things here as well.
First of we need to speak out against these companies constantly having the need to whitewash character to look more "palatable". Like seriously they are out here saying that they have diversity but really they only add one black character and one tan characters that's almost all the time depicted as latino. But the rest of the line is full of white characters.
Not only that but when they share the promo art is almost never identical to the final product aka the doll. A few examples is from Bratz. I encourage you to search Sasha dolls and compare the dolls and the art. The art looks just like Yazmin. Another search you can do is also from Bratz, another character that they heavily whitewashed the art was Felicia.
Not to mention there is a video fo the commercial where they made the actors block that character form the other white counterparts. Seriously go check it out its disturbing and fucking vile. The doll that was in the commercial is Felicia Sweet Dreamz Pajama Party. Very BEAUTIFUL doll but they decided to cover her from the other dolls in the commercial.
Another example that's happening RIGHT NOW Is the new doll line called Rainbow High! They already have 3 collections and theres only 2 black characters. Sunny Madison and Krystal Bailey. Krystal Bailey is the dark skin but her promo art has more of a lighter complexion. And like I said we as consumers should be getting outraged. I'm getting so irritated when these companies dont hire people who can color PROPERLY. Like seriously where is management for this ?. How do you see that and say it's okay dor production?.
And this is not only on dolls line and merchandise its also on TV. I'm pretty sure most people have watched Super Hero Girls. I myself seen the shoe and I love it. Except the fact that Karen Beecher aka Bumblebee is whitewashed. She has light eyes and lighter complexion with curly not afro like hair. That's not how the character is suppouse to be. Please check all of the Teen Titans shows and you see she was much more darker and her hair texture was more afro like. I love the show I just dont like the fact that the main characters are whitewashed. The only dark skin character in the entire show that I have memory of is Catwoman and even then she has straight hair.
Theres much more examples that you can research and check how drasticly they changed the concepts of these characters and how they perpetuate the idea that lighter skin black woman or men are more beautiful than darker skin black woman which is never okay. Theres Winx Club, Proud Family, Tim Burton films, Disney films, Nickelodeon shows (most black characters on the shows are depicted as mentally I'll or they are weirdos) and so and so forth.
In conclusion I just feel like we as future creators should be able to learn how to color black people and learn how to properly make a storyline without feeling racist or colorist. To me artist should be able to draw other people cultures and ethnicities without hassles. I also encourage to be more outspoken of these injustisces.Feb 26, 2021

All of times when they change designs and make them lighter or completely white to make them more appealing it's not even working. Not for me at least, the original designs were so pretty, damn 
It's also sad they don't teach us how to paint different races in art school, just white people. It's all up to the artist personal interest to learn about it, and so many people won't want to.
We live in very different countries but I think the bullshit is the same for us all. People here always look back at America like: "wow, they're fucked up". As if we didn't have the same in here
I hope we can change things with the generations to come
