hometown cafe
a sketch of my old favorite cafe & bakery from my hometown. :o) it was such a beautiful place, i sketched it twice even though i never felt drawn to do that before, haha. :o)the building was originally a combination pharmacy, soda shop, and ice cream bar when i was a kid, so it was cool to see it passed on to a cafe that loved the old charm of the place instead of just gutting it or something. they even kept all the original stained glass, wood furniture, and all elements of the soda bar!
they're closed now, unfortunately... i left my hometown last year because it uh. has become elon musk's new hangout spot. it's a tiny old town but he plopped down a tesla factory in it and is just. making it so sad and weird. :( this was an openly queer-friendly and marginalized-people-focused space, and not a lot of those places have closed since all this happened.
ugh! not to be a bummer, sorry. it's nice to have these sketches and to remember this place for what it was. i'm glad my girlfriend and i moved, though; that place was getting bad.
