Hey, here's a little artist advice that I used to never follow before because I was insecure.

Use yourself as a reference.

I know a lot of artists suggest it, but I never figured out just how good that advice is until I started taking pics of myself for references.

One important thing about this advice that doesn't get mentioned often is that it could help you make your art more unique and less stiff.

Even if it's just for hand refs (which is usually what I take pics for), you get so much freedom with it when you can decide how exactly (in detail) you want this hand pose to look like. You have a lot more freedom for choosing your poses and expressions when you are the one making the ref. You can choose how exactly you want your character to stand and what energy will their pose or expression or even the way their hand bends give off.

Idk if what I said even makes sense, but I suggest trying this if you haven't. I know you might feel insecure about it and you might feel uncomfortable looking at your own face for too long (I certainly did), but you'll get used to it with time. And trust me, your art will look better once you have the freedom of doing the exact pose/expression you want your character to have. It's actually fun figuring out just how this character would do this certain expression or pose.

So yeah, give it a shot, it might help you!
