Day 8: Crown

Christmas themed artwork already, you ask?

Yeah, I admit, it felt odd to me to draw this bunny with her Lucia crown - my take on the prompt word for #peachtober - during spooky season, but I also know it‘s important to prepare for xmas season and all the products I plan to launch for that time early enough. I plan on turning this little gal into a christmas card design! What do you think?

Lucia, who this artwork is based on, is the bearer of light in swedish christmas traditions.

I love that story of an italian Saint who is now celebrated in Scandinavia for unknown reasons. Her legend was most likely brought to various foreign shores by vikings and other sea travelers.

The tradition is that on the 13th, St. Lucia‘s day, the eldest daughter of a household dresses up in a white dress with a red fabric around the waist, wears a crown of green with candles on top and serves saffron buns to the whole family. There are also bigger gatherings all over the country where everyone dresses up and there is a festive celebration involving beautiful services and choir music.
