Lately there is many video that call out Artist for drawing a black character white or white washing , honestly i don't understand fully how some artwork can be called as white washing and why it's big deal ? I just know it's because it's racial issue . But i wondering isn't art style and art program effected how the colour turn out ? And how about the colour theory and etc ???Aug 31, 2021

Sometimes it can depends of the artist color palette. If they usually draw with pastel or light colors, then it's fine. But totally white wash a character is ridiculous for me (and same goes for black washing).
i know i already commented but i just want to ask, are you poc?
People of color are regularly erased and pushed to appear more white because white people are seen as more desirable/relatable. Representation in media is important to a lot of people, and allowing poc to be whitewashed is essentially pretending that we don't exist or aren't good enough to exist as we are.

Skin color can change depending on palette and lighting, yes, but there's a difference between stylizing a character and drastically making them lighter skinned.
i agree with this, plus u know that if it was a white character made darker nobody would care 😐 it’s kinda dumb but yk twitter does what twitter does
Yea in most cases is just the type of colour palette that the artist uses(for ex those who use pastel colors will naturally use a lighter skin tone) but tbh this hole whitewashing thing in the art community is just ppl that are looking to get angry at something (yes there will always be instances where this is true but l don’t think it happens as often as others claim to be🤷‍♀️)
