Aftermath
The rivers rose in seconds, flooding places that weren't too bad and many people evacuated in an emergency with nowhere to go. And although we don't have much to give, the people are helping the people, and at no point did the government do something when they needed it.
We thought everything bad was gone with the hurricane, but everything was ruined in seconds. Even if I live on a mountain, I live near a river and I have no idea if it is growing or something, I will have to evacuate anytime. I just want to eat a taco before I lose it all, and go to a neighbor's roof (because it's flat) and survive on the canned tuna we pack in our backpack until my death or rescue.
I'm so sad. I have colleagues who live in affected areas, and when I asked them how they were, They told me that they evacuated and they lost everything, they are very affected and I feel so helpless since I cannot leave until they tell us we must. I need people to know this, I need everyone to understand the situation, we barelly can survive because we are poor as hell, and we are not prepared for this. Not only do we have the coronavirus on us, but also dengue, and poverty only gives us the assurance that we will die outside the hospital waiting for medical attention more expensive than a Lamborghini.
As only one of us can go out at a time (in case something bad happens and we have to run) my sister will go out to take some baby clothes to a nearby shelter, and although I want to help I must stay. I am scared because not many evacuated took their masks so the area can be potentially dangerous due to the virus.Nov 6, 2020
