Question! What canvas size do you like to use when drawing, and why? πŸ€”

Traditional artists, what's your favourite paper size ig? Lmao

Personally, I use 4000x4000px. I always struggle drawing on small canvases and 4000 just feels like a nice number πŸ‘.

I choose the same across both trad and digital at A3 sized (27.9cm x 42cm or 3508 x 4961 px), but normally I use an A4 sketchbook.

I don’t normally look at pixels lol

For traditional art I prefer sketchbooks that are 5"Γ—8" or 8"Γ—8" size but when it comes to loose pieces of paper I prefer a4 because that's the size of my little folder thing where I store my drawings just so they don't get loss
β€’
Anything between 1000px and 3000px any lower and it feels like I am doing pixel art with how low the resolution gets any higher and the file will be 20mb+ and my tablet will crash its an old relic (from 2016) I don't blame it~

18 by 24 inches for both. Although the CSP 8.5 by 11 feels big so sometimes I use that for the sake of smaller file sizes.

It was standard at my school to use 18 by 24 newsprint, and it provides a lot more room to draw with your whole arm.
β€’
2500x2500 or 2500x3000
β€’
normally around 3200Γ—1600px for full illustrations, but nothing over 4000px, because that's the max i would do before my tablet starts to lag

I mostly use a sketchbook that has the size roughly A5. It's easy to carry around, to fit my messy overflooded desk, and drawing small is quicker and puts less pressure on me. The disadvantage is, I can't make many details and mistakes look bigger compared to the small size of the whole drawing, and that's why my ideal size would be A3, some things would be easier to make technically, but also I would feel more pressire to make everything perfect. Small is more comfortable.
β€’
Normally within the range between 1500 to 2500px
500x500 if I'm doing an icon!
β€’
Most of my sketchbooks are A5 and smaller, though I'd like to try bigger one like A4 someday
β€’
2000x2000px is what I use, sometimes smaller like 1700x1700.
β€’
1200x1200 px, 900x900 px and 550x550 px
β€’
For squares: 1080 x 1080
For rectangles: 1080 x 1350
I think it's because I got used to using these sizes from my old days on IG β™‘
β€’
A5 is my comfort size, most of my sketchbooks are also this size
I don't really use digital so idk
β€’
Usually, 1920x1080 for HD animation (and art too).
β€’
Traditional, I’m pretty much always using 5.5 x 8.5 inch books, but lately doing two drawings per page (saves on materials and I like drawing small!)
