Insta : People are starting to flee Twitter and are heading for Mastodon. Is it a good website ? I hesitate to try it

Not a mastodon user, just researched the platform in the past. It is sort of a concept fusion between twitter and discord.
Think of it as if you could make an personal copy of twitter for you and your friends to use in the same likes as an personal discord server. And you and you friends could participate in different "twitter servers" owned by different people and retweet content from one server to the other.
That's more or less how mastodon works. Each server/community has its own rules and are owned and moderated by different people.
But to have a user you gotta host it in some server first. So you could create your user on an art mastodon, for example, and from there you could use this same user to enter other mastodon servers and have in your feed content from everybody you follow on these serves.
I hope my explanation makes sense.

•I tried Mastodon, I didn't understand how to use it even after getting on the .art server so I deleted everything. Yeah I'm not very patient with learning social media
