Dude, can we all agree that Introductions in books are so stupid?
Cause like, I'm so excited to read this book, but you want me to go through an introduction first that's like at least 20 pages long? And written by someone I never heard of?? And it spoils the contents of the book???
Like, yeah, I was waiting for so long to finally read The Iliad, but sure, I'll read the 60 pages long introduction first, plus translator's note, plus the notes on the text, plus editor's note, plu-Mar 2, 2023

Idk I really like them. Sometimes I'll read them first and sometimes I'll read them last but I find that they provide really interesting context and analysis on the book. Especially if it's a translation - a lot of the language choices are explained and analyzed in these sections which I find helpful :)

The only exception is if it's written by someone interesting or someone I heard of (and respect).
