An interesting find
Lannister knocked on her mother’s chamber doors. It was around midday, and the princess was about to head to one of her solo meetings with the council. Certainly not her favorite activity, but she has no choice. Though she needed to grab some papers that she knew Savareen had. After waiting a few seconds and hearing no response, she knocked again. “Mother?” She asked. She knew she couldn’t wait around for the queen to return as she only had a few minutes until the meeting started and she didn’t want to be late. With some hesitation, she pushed the door open and peaked her head inside. Her eyes glanced around, the room being empty. On the other side was Savareen’s desk, Lan being able to spot a pile of papers. She took a step in, fearing getting caught by her mother, but she needed those papers. She made it over to the desk, keeping quiet despite no one being around. Right on top of the pile laid the papers she needed so she gathered those up. She fixed up the pile that remained on the desk, just about being ready to leave before something caught her attention.
In between the pages of a book was a browned piece of paper, much older than anything else that was there. Written on the bottom was the words “love, Mera.”
Lannister furrowed her brow as she tried to think about where she’d heard the name before. It took a moment before she recalled it. “The name on the grave...” she whispered to herself as she thought back to where Sav had gone during Nightsongs funeral.
The grey mare gingerly pulled out the letter, skimming over it but not being able to make out everything due to its age. “Missing you... don’t know what I did... Andor...” she murmured as she picked up on the more prominent aspects. “Love..” she said last.
Lannister felt so intrigued by what she was seeing, but knew she couldn’t stay any longer. She had no more time. She very carefully set the letter back where it had been before and hurried out of the room with the papers she needed. leaving it like it she’d never even been in.
She tried shaking what she’d just read from her mind, but as much as she put an effort, it only became what she focused on more. Who was Mera?May 2, 2021
