Does anyone else have the sudden urge to write like fanfiction about your own characters???? I mean completely original not an oc of like a show that exists??? I legit have this urge all the time to write non canon stuff of my characters just for the hell of it but idk where to even like,,, share that lmao

Absolutely! I've written a few drafts in the past, trying to establish my characters and get better at writing dialogue and character interactions. I wanna make something out of my stories one day but that's gonna be a while. Better get those writing skills sharpened before it's too late!

•I've done this for a year and then actually published one of them on AO3 because a friend wrote fanfic for my OCs on AO3, and it was so cursed I didn't want to have it be the only fic under this new fandom tag she created

•Firstly, you should ABSOLUTELY write the scenes you come up with. Even if they aren't in the cannon, it allows you to experiment and gain experience writing them! It makes it way easier when writing the real deal, and can help you get to know them along the way.
Secondly, you are the source of canon material for your story and though it may not be “on screen” for a reader to see, it can still be a canon event your characters experience. I've come call said events ”Bonus Content.”
I absolutely do write these scenes, and I love having them in the background to help push me towards finishing! You don't have to wait until the work is finished to post them, but it's a good motivator. ^-^

•YES. The protagonist of my story could’ve easily become the antagonist instead had she just gone about things a bit differently. She would’ve also been a very fun one to write at that. For that reason I might do some ”what if” story that leads the characters down a completely different path.

YES I don't write them but daydream about them all the time. I don't have a canon story but 1029288392 AUs with my ocs that switch every week
