What are your favorite characters designs? Specifically from existing media.
Here are some of my favorites, in no particular order:
1. Neo - RWBY
I love how her design is based on Neapolitan ice cream! She’s got such a spectacular color scheme that I just adore! Also, heterochromatic eyes. Though, I don’t like her newer outfit. I think that outfit makes her look extremely top heavy and obscures much of her body along with her thicker hair.
2. Starlight Glimmer - MLP: FiM
I think her color palette is just really good! Her having various shades of purple and aquamarine coupled with blue eyes is such an excellent combination of colors! I prefer her new hairstyle better cause I think that makes her look really pretty and adorable.
3. Kazuya Mishima - Tekken
Aside from likely being inspired by Vegeta from the Dragon Ball series, I think Kazuya’s got a really memorable and recognizable design. His Vegeta hairstyle, his thick eyebrows, his multiple scars, and his red left eye (yet another character with heterochromatic eyes) pretty much are integral to his design and what makes Kazuya, well, Kazuya. Also, can I just say he looks great when wearing a suit? Not to mention, I think he’s quite attractive (even though he’s nearly 50).
4. Ayaka Kamisato - Genshin Impact
Ok, I might be biased cause I happen to have an OC that’s pink and blue with a winter theme but Ayaka has such a lovely design! The pinks really make her design pop out! Peak character design.
5. Koishi Komeiji & Satori Komeiji - Touhou
Did you know that if you invert their colors, they’ll resemble each other? I’m gonna have to give props to ZUN (the creator of Touhou) for making such a genius idea!Mar 26, 2023

I have too many favourites but from off the top of my head I’d have to say envy from FullMetal alchemist, their design is the design ever

Ichigo Kurosaki, especially his Bankai robes. The slim-fit jacket with the flared out edges and his hakama pants has this striking iconic silhouette. And his orange hair contrasts very pleasingly with the black outfit. It's kind of the inverse of Goku who has black hair and an orange outfit...

Everyone from Monster- Monster is a wonderfully humble and real anime to me, and the characters looking so realistic in design is part of what I feel does exactly what it is meant to do for its genre and intent. To me, best character design doesn't equal most beautiful or visually appealing (even though I would argue that the monsters characters are such) but rather those that execute the author's intent the best

The witches from Madoka Magica. Once you know their true nature, their designs becomes so much more meaningful and sad.

Vash the Stampede. Name more iconic hair that's ridiculous as all hell but still looks good than Yami-no-Yugi. Bucciarati from Golden wind is a heck of a character turning an obscure concept into something frightening. What would you do if that man licked the sweat off your face, punched you and you ended up puking up a corpse's fingers because he zippered your face. I'd also say the concept and sound design of MOODY BLUES.

Lord Shen - Kung fu panda
I mean, what do you want me to say about him. He’s that perfect mix of elegant and unhinged and his design perfectly reflects that. Hes perfect in every way.
