Nfts is kinda like crypto currency but with art, nft stands for "Not Fungible Token" which means it cannot be divided and every nft is different and so their values. That way you can create art and make it an nft and sell it.
The apes thing is because people in the nft market just take one drawing and iterate, changing colors clothes or something, so they are unique, and make collections, the NFT'S Monkeys are a collection in this market which lacks quality and is repetitive, a scam.
The art community is against Nft because it's an environmental threat and it's just a pyramid scheme. I mean, the technology is pretty good, but it's inefficient and is at its infancy, it could be something useful to make contracts or manage some stuff, but far apart from making money or selling stuff. The use of this technology nowadays, in my opinion is unethical.
