•I loved playing DnD with my friends but I haven't done it in FOREVER. From the little that I've heard and seen in online campaigns/podcasts, I would pretty much have to relearn the game, especially since they are on the 5th edition currently, whereas they were still on the 2nd edition when I was playing. I still enjoy some of the novels, and still have fun swapping old stories of crazy adventures with a coworker who also used to play. I'm definitely gonna have to check out the previously mentioned Stinky Dragon podcast, but one that I've been listening to just for the entertainment value is called Twenty Sides. I hope you find a group of good people and have lots of fun

•There are kind of two good options for places to start:
Option 1. Learn the game! If you’re a more audio learner I recommend listening to videos explaining the game and some DnD podcasts/shows (there’s lots of free ones out there but I recommend The Stinky Dragon, they tend to explain a lot of what they’re doing and why, especially in campaign 1). If your more of a reader see if you can rent the players handbook and dungeon masters guide at your library! If they don’t have it themselves they may be able to borrow it form a different library for you to use or you may be able to rent it online.
Option 2: Find a group to play with! If your going to college they’re may already be a club on campus. You can also check local game stores or arcades to see if they host any groups. I found my current group at a local arcade who has a back room they let us play in. They hosted a meet up night and that’s how found my group. There’s also lots of ways to find people to play with online but I’d be careful when doing so. Like all corners of the internet there’s creeps and mean people out there. If you don’t want to play with strangers, try roping in your friends! The company that makes DnD puts out guide books so you don’t necessarily need to write the whole story yourself ;)
