Sweet mermaid

This is probably the closest I will get to a mermaid offering for Mermay but Dugongs are just as lovely in my mind.
Maybe from a distance and if you squint really hard you can see why the sailors imagined them as beautiful women on top and fish at the bottom

Anyway.... These sweet little sea cows are threatened by increasing pollution, loss of sea grass and fishing practices among other things. Did you know they can only stay underwater for 6-12 minutes without going up to take a breath so if they get caught in nets or other gear they will drown? Our oceans hold some amazing creatures and they need to be protected.May 18, 2021
