I’m not as into them as I used to be but ngl i had no idea that people really hate blind boxes. I definitely get why but I always found them kinda fun to an extent 🥹Jul 17, 2026

I probably like them the least out of my friend group, but it's more that I understand the boundaries I need to have around them. Similarly I have a hardline rule around gacha games that I won't spend real money.
I do agree with other comments that the ones that specifically target kids/use kid oriented IP are not good. My rule around them is I better like the entire set, b/c I'm not buying a second one, and kids before a certain age don't really have that developmental milestone. Also, like, some of them get stupid expensive. The LDD (the doll line I collect) resurrection set for the anniversary of the the company were 150 ish USD full-size doll blind boxes and I was like "do I LOOK like I have that kind of cash??" so I didn't get one.
Its gambling mostly aimed at kids
I don’t know if this is just me and I’m not the best to talk about it since I’d say I’m rather responsible when it comes to my money and only buying blind boxes if A. If can afford them and B. I’ll be fine with getting any of the options the blind box offers. Tbf i definitely think there’s been a shift and some of them aren’t the best overtime but maybe I have rose tinted glasses with blind boxes in general
When blind boxes/bags started it was not as bad as now (imo) but now theres so much waste that come from them, some products are "blind bags" but then list everything (cough cough, dolls mostly) and also, idk if its true, but in the case of kids... gambling maybe?? Don't even get me started on mini brands cuteifying corporations. Also they r expensive, all o them. But yes they are fun despite their isshes
