Anyway, what is your opinion on a story that's based on a board/tabletop/etc. game?

Like, if you took chess (for example) and made a story that is inspired by and has many resemblances to the said game, with the characters representing different chess pieces and in some way even including the rules of the game in the story.

That’s so amazing tbh! I’ve seen some cluedo inspired ones tho I’d love to see game ocs pushed more hhh

Speaking of chess characters, it’s not exactly what you’re mentioning but it instantly reminded me of @euphoriusdesign ‘s ocs
I’d love to see someone make a Snakes and Ladders-inspired story just for the laughs XD
I don’t think I’ve come across a Chess-inspired story that I’ve really gotten attached to, but I can still appreciate the character designs!! The way artists incorporate different elements of the pieces into their designs is so fascinating
i love stuff like that honestly

even better is when the author is able to make the characters based off the pieces themselves look super cool
Indifferent; a number of stories are based on table top games and vise versa. Chess is one of those games base on older military tactics and there's a plethora or military based stories.

In the end, as long as it's done well, i don't have any problems with it's contents (:
