Yurei was born to a lower middle-class family in the year 1876. This had been Emma and Thomas Wilson’s (Yurei’s parents) second child, however their first born had passed away due to cholera 4 years before Yurei’s birth. Yurei was given the name Ella but soon forgets it after she dies. Thomas worked in a coal mine and Emma worked as a laundry maid. When Ella turned four years old, she was allowed to work in the same household that her mother does as a general household servant in order to make more money for the family. One day on a lunch break, Ella and Emma went to deliver lunch for Thomas as he had forgotten it on his way to work. Normally Ella would bring her father his meal her own, but she had become sick with tuberculosis and her family was unknowing that she had, so her mother accompanied her with permission from the housekeeper. After they had given the lunch to him, they stayed for a while to chat. The smell of roses became prominent in the air however, there was no flower in sight in the dusty mine. Suddenly there was a loud explosion and bright embers was all that was in the sight of the miners and Ella’s family as they clung to each other, trying to escape. However, the mine had collapsed and over a hundred people were killed or severely injured in that incident.Jan 8, 2022
