I just created an account on Cara and I feel like it’s a cross between Twitter and Instagram, but more art focused.

it's kinda like twitter but (so far) less toxic with a sprinkling of artstation in how you post. Social media meets portfolio x personaly I'm just using it as a another art showcase place, I'm not leaving Instagram or Artfol because I don't wanna loose the small following I have but its a good place

it's more for professional artists looking to be hired by an industry to put their portfolio on than a social media for hobbyist artists

It is pretty professional both in terms of looks and feel, which may make others step back a little. I do like that its "social media side" doesn't have its own section like Artfol does (or perhaps I just didn't see where it's located) because I have a feeling that it might turn into another twitter. HOWEVER, I recently have an account there and I've been trying to post something for days, but I can't bring myself to do it because the web version allows saving artworks through right clicking. I know people can simply go around stuff like that but I would feel a little bit better if it was disabled. Perhaps that's mostly MY reason for stepping back a bit...

Very much what it is on the tin: portfolio site with a social media side.
Really like the professional parts while not as focused as Behance, which is where I’m packing up from. It’s pretty familiar with it’s UI given that it’s app almost looks like IG. That familiarity is good imo because being a pretty un-social person, I struggle with adapting to other social media sites’ formats.
It’s newfound popularity is ironically causing it to be it’s downfall though, with many artists especially hobbyists moving in mostly from fear of the AI scare. Lag from increased traffic, bugs and the fact that their built-in Glaze isn’t up thanks to the new wave of users is kinda killing it for me tbh. Did I mention that posts had a five image limit?

Thus far, if they’re able to resolve the insane fees regarding server hosting, it’ll be a nice place to host a portfolio. The professional work has become somewhat more diluted since I joined.
So I like how it looks, how it makes my art look. And I feel confident about the changes they can make and bugs they can fix in the future.
However, im finding it most difficult to actually meet artists and network. I understand some of these features may be unrefined but on the other hand, I find a lot of artists seem less welcoming than they do here. About the same more or less as Instagram.
I’ve heard differently from friends of mine, but the people who have been able to network are also posting a lot more (which I feel hesitant on because I don’t want to add more stress on the servers.)
That being said, if you’re interested in having your name saved on new plaforms, go for it!

Think about to be a portfolio platform with a nice little social media feed.
With better words, you can choose what art should end up on the portfolio page. Or just treat it like insta/twitter
