another project from class, this time it was package design! we were randomly assigned a category of products (like hot sauce, pet food, fruit drinks, etc) and i got assigned. female cosmetics.
which i was not too thrilled about as a trans person (why do cosmetics have to be gendered my gods.) so i went through a whole novel in my head thinking of ways to make this not very gendered.
i ended up choosing to do a perfume bottle since they’re so diverse and fun, and i also decided that i wanted trans women to be my target audience.
the fragrance of APHRODITE would be a mixture of apple, nutmeg, and firewood.
i decided on this combination after researching scents that are typically attributed to masculinity. i wanted to put traditionally masculine scents into elegant, feminine packaging because gender is weird and gendering smells is even more weird. anyway. i’m done rambling here if you read all that i’m kissing you on the forehead. mwahApr 19, 2021
