Question: What composition and/or anatomy tip did you wish you learned sooner?

That’s it’s okay to trace but it’s the way you do it. For example I trace my reference photo by breaking it down into shapes so circle for head, diamond fir where the details on the face go, cylinder for the neck, etc. after I finish with that I use that as my official reference and then draw the shapes myself.

I recently found out about placing something really close to you and blurring it out. It gives depth in the composition

I think learning about how important communication is really helped me, like working out what you want to convey and how you want somebody to feel when they see your art is just as important as making something pretty!

Posture first. Drawing the foundation of the body way before thinking about the face. For me, drawing the head first always makes it way more difficult

I wish I had learned about gesture drawings sooner, would've saved me a lot of time and grief

Hands are actually fun to draw once you know HOW to draw them and WHY you draw them that way. (Also I am no expert on hands
