Ravens ‘Durham, Come Save Me’
‘He’s a living legendA squawking fabrication
Claims he was destitute and staved in
When a coin from a raven saved him
Though it’s all total hokum
There was no devine intervention
He lied, cheated an’ extorted
No good deed went unreported’
‘Song of Anne Duck (Secrets in the River)’

Out 3rd July
This month, in the lead up to the ‘Durham Come Save Me’ album launch, I’ll be sharing some of the ideas and sketches that led to the final design of the album artwork.
Most of these are me just getting ideas out of my head and onto the page, so expect extremely loose, quick drawings that haven’t been polished very much, if at all.
Today’s sketches are inspired by the song ‘Song of Anne Duck (Secrets in the River).’ I love the lyrics to this song, especially the lyrics selected above. It shows the levels some people will go to court the public perception in their favour. It shows human behaviours have never really changed and politicians now still use the same tactics.
In the bottom right of the picture, on the coin, you can see ‘Hob of Pelaw’ tightrope walking on Durham Cathedral. He is one of my favourite (real life) characters from the album. Tune in later in the month to hear his fate!!
